Starz Sets ‘Blunt Talk’ Premiere, ‘Survivor’s Remorse’ Return

Premium channel’s comedy block kicks off at 9 p.m. ET/PT on August 22

Original series “Blunt Talk” will premiere on the same day the critically-acclaimed “Survivor’s Remorse” returns on August 22, Starz announced on Wednesday.

The 10-episode first season of “Blunt Talk” will premiere at 9 p.m. Set in Los Angeles, the story follows Walter Blunt (Patrick Stewart), a British import who plans to conquer American cable news and stumbles over the consequences of his sometimes misguided decision-making, both on and off the air.

Released by the studio MRC, the show is executive produced by Seth MacFarlane, Jonathan Ames, Stephanie Davis and Tristram Shapeero, the show stars Stewart (“Ted”), Jacki Weaver (“Silver Linings Playbook”) and Adrian Scarborough (“The King’s Speech”).

Shortly after the premiere, Season 2 of “Survivor’s Remorse” kicks off. The series is executive produced Tom Werner, Maverick Carter, LeBron James, Mike O’Malley (Glee), Paul Wachter, Victor Levin and Hilton Smith. Although the first season only had six episodes, the sophomore season will feature 10 episodes.

The series follows the life of Cam Calloway (Jessie T. Usher), a young basketball star who is thrust into the limelight after signing a contract with a pro basketball team in Atlanta. The second season will focus on Cam’s rise in the world of professional basketball.

MRC, the studio behind MacFarlane’s directorial debut “Ted,” which is the highest grossing original comedy of all time worldwide, the highly anticipated sequel, “Ted 2,” and the award-winning series “House of Cards,” is best known as one of the most artist-friendly independent studios.
