Starz’s ‘Black Sails’ Gets a Solid Ratings Start

Pirate drama draws more than 2.6 million viewers over multiple airings

Starz’s epic pirate series “Black Sails” got off to an encouraging start in the ratings with its premiere over the weekend, drawing nearly 850,000 viewers with its initial airing Saturday at 9 p.m.

Over the weekend, “Black Sails” — which is executive produced by Michael Bay — accumulated more than 2.6 million viewers over Starz’s linear channels, edging out the premiere of the network’s “White Queen” and becoming the network’s highest-rated premiere weekend on record.

The series, a prequel to the events depicted in the Robert Louis Stevenson novel “Treasure Island,” center around  the tales of Captain Flint (Toby Stephens) and his men.
