Streamy Awards: James Franco, ‘SnapperHero,’ Fifth Harmony, Tyler Oakley Score Nominations

Live show for the 2015 awards will air on VH1 and online on Thursday, Sept. 17

VH1, Dick Clark Productions and Tubefilter announced the nominees for the 5th annual Streamy Awards on Wednesday.

Snapchat scripted series “SnapperHero” led the pack with six total nominations. “Epic Rap Battles of History” and “Video Game High School” both followed with four nominations, while “Adi Shankar’s Bootleg Universe” and “The Hotwives of Orlando” each secured three nominations.

“If the strength of this year’s nominees is any indication, we are on track for the biggest Streamys ever,” said Streamy Awards Creator Drew Baldwin. “This past year, video creators have inspired, educated and entertained us like never before — and I can imagine no better way to celebrate our community’s achievements than with Dick Clark Productions and VH1 for our first-ever television and digital broadcast.”

The nominees in the two fan-voted categories, Entertainer of the Year and Show of the Year, will be announced on Sept. 3. Fans will vote for the winners online ahead of the live awards show.

The Streamy Awards is a multi-platform event honoring YouTube and online creators. Past winners have included YouTube stars Grace Helbig, Tyler Oakley and a cappella group Pentatonix.

The live show will air on VH1 and its digital platforms from the Hollywood Palladium on Thursday, Sept. 17 at 10 p.m.
