Surfer Alana Blanchard, Drift Racer Ryan Tuerck Lead Action Sports Channel Network A’s New Slate

Network A is trying to grow its brand both on and off YouTube

Surfer Alana Blanchard and drift racer Ryan Tuerck star in two of action sports channel Network A’s most popular shows on YouTube. Now Network A is relying on them to help grow its personal website.

The site, launched last month, debuted its initial slate of new shows Monday, including a new season of “Alana: Surfer Girl,” Blanchard’s show, and “Drift Garage,” a new series starring Tuerck and Chris Forsberg. The show will debut on both NetworkA.com and YouTube, where Network A has more than 450,000 subscribers.

Blanchard is an accomplished pro surfer (and occasional model) whose show has amassed more than eight million views since its first season began in 2012. In season three, the Hawaii native competes in the Vans U.S. Open of Surfing and tours the world. A drift racer, Tuerck’s previous show “Tuerck’d” inspired this new one, in which Tuerck and Forsberg, a fellow director, demonstrate how to source, build and maintain the missiles cars they use for $5,000.

The new slate of shows also includes “Every Third Thursday,” in which Dave Lee and Marc Wierenga create unique snowbowards and, as well as a mini-series behind the scenes with California alt-rock band “Switchfoot” as they produce their new surf film and album, “Fading West.”

“It delivers on several boxes we look to check,” Stefan Van Engen, SVP of programming and content for Bedrocket, told TheWrap. “Does it bring talent closer to their fans? Does it engage the fans? Does it speak to the overall lifestyle of actions sports?”
