Susan Sarandon Books Guest Gig on ‘Mike & Molly’

Sarandon will play a famed novelist who gives Molly a writing lesson she won’t soon forget

Susan Sarandon is coming to “Mike & Molly.”

The “Dead Man Walking” actress has been booked for a guest appearance on the CBS sitcom, playing  J.C. Small,  a literary icon and an idol to Molly Flynn (played by Melissa McCarthy).

Described as “part J.D. Salinger with a touch of William Faulkner and a spike of Gore Vidal,” Small possesses both a beautiful mind and a tortured soul. She gives Molly a lesson in writing that she, nor her family, are soon to forget.

Though known primarily for her film work, Sarandon has dabbled in television, making appearances on Showtime’s “The Big C” and NBC’s “30 Rock” in recent years.

“Mike & Molly” returns to the air mid-season.
