Taraji P. Henson Teases Season 2, Gets Cookies for Cookie From TheWrap (Video)

The star of Fox’s hit drama gets a birthday surprise during premiere event at New York’s Carnegie Hall

Emmy nominee Taraji P. Henson got a birthday surprise from TheWrap on the gold carpet during the “Empire” Season 2 premiere event at New York’s Carnegie Hall.

TheWrap’s NY host Nick Barrotta presented Henson, who plays scene stealer Cookie Lyon on the hit Fox show, with what else? A bag of chocolate chip cookies.

Later, when asked to describe Season 2 in one word, Henson said, “Explosive. That’s how the first episode starts off, explosive.”

Henson also revealed that the new season will offer both some romance for Cookie and a view of her character’s softer side.

“You’ll get to see her develop relationships with her other two sons,” she said. “It’s not just about her and Jamal this season. You’ll get to see her be great at what she does and that’s produce great talent.”

“Empire” season two premieres on Sept. 23 at 9pm/8c.
