“Donald [Trump] said once he deports them he would let them back as citizens, I will not,” Cruz says
Ted Cruz says that he will deport 12 million people if he becomes President of the United States.
“We should enforce the law, how do we enforce the law?” Cruz told Bill O’Reilly on Monday’s “The O’Reilly Factor.” “Yes, we should deport them, we should build a wall, we should triple the border patrol. Federal law requires that anyone here illegally that’s apprehended should be deported.”
He added that the U.S. should establish a biometric entry system so that “we will know the day someone overstays their visa.”
O’Reilly pressed on the issue further, coming up with the fictitious Irishman Tommy O’Malley and asking Cruz whether he would deport O’Malley with his wife and kids when he settled into Long Island.
“You better believe it,” responded Cruz. “The biggest difference between Donald Trump and Marco Rubio and myself is that both Donald Trump and Marco Rubio would allow those 12 million people to become U.S. citizens, Donald said once he deports them he would let them back as citizens. I will not.”
