“Even in the annals of frivolous lawsuits this takes the cake,” Texas senator says in daring the billionaire real-estate developer to follow through on his threat
Ted Cruz has a message for Donald Trump: Put your money where your mouth is.
In a press conference on Wednesday, Cruz slammed the billionaire real-estate developer after Trump threatened to sue the Texas Republican senator over a campaign ad that suggests Trump supports abortion rights. The commercial features a clip from 1999 in which Trump calls himself “very pro-choice.”
“I have to say to Mr. Trump, you have been threatening frivolous lawsuits for your entire adult life,” Cruz said. “Even in the annals of frivolous lawsuits, this takes the cake. So Donald, I would encourage you, if you want to file a lawsuit challenging this ad, claiming defamation, file the lawsuit.”
Cruz said Trump’s team of lawyers have issued a cease-and-desist letter demanding that Cruz pull the ad.
Trump has said he’s evolved on the issue and opposes abortion.
