FX has renewed its freshman drama “The Bridge” for a second season.
“The Bridge” stars Bechir as a Mexican police officer and Kruger as an El Paso, Texas, officer. The pair are brought together to catch a serial killer who operates on both sides of the border. It was adapted from the international series “Bron,” which was set on the Denmark-Sweden border, by executive producer Meredith Stiehm and writer/producer Elwood Reid.
“We’ve been blown away by the compelling performances of Demian Bichir and Diane Kruger and the writing of Meredith Stiehm, Elwood Reid and their team, and are thrilled to be able to continue this journey for another season,” said Eric Schrier, president of original programming for FX Networks and FX Productions. “We look forward to continuing our partnership with Rich Ross, Carolyn Bernstein and everyone at Shine America.”
Season 1 of “The Bridge,” which airs its finale Oct. 2, has averaged 3.65 million total viewers, with 1.68 million of them in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic.
