‘The Secret Life of Pets’ Trailer Reveals What Animals Do When Their Owners Are Away (Video)

If you’ve ever wondered what your pet does when you leave for work, Universal’s new movie has the answer

In the new trailer for Universal Pictures’ animated film “The Secret Life of Pets,” cats, dogs and birds turn the house upside down once their owners leave for the day.

Max, Chloe, Mel, Gino and Leonard show the audience what it’s like to be home alone as a pet, using a mixer as a massage tool, listening to heavy metal music or eating everything that’s in the fully stocked refrigerator.

The film takes place in a Manhattan apartment building. Max’s life promptly changes when his owner brings home a mutt named Duke. However, they must put their differences aside when they find out that Snowball, a white bunny, is building an army of abandoned pets, seeking revenge on all the happy-owned pets and their owners.

Directed by Chris Renaud and Yarrow Cheney, the movie stars Ellie Kemper (“The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”), Kevin Hart (“Get Hard”), Lake Bell (“What Happens in Vegas”), Eric Stonestreet (“Modern Family”) and Louis C. K.

Renaud is known for directing “Despicable Me” and “The Lorax,” and will act as the executive producer for the upcoming anticipated spin-off, “Minions.”

The animated feature is written by Ken Daurio, Brian Lynch, and Cinco Paul. It will be released July 8, 2016 by Illumination Entertainment and Universal Pictures.
