Miley Cyrus is set to join the judging panel of “The Voice” next season, and fans of the NBC singing competition show are up in arms on social media.

The controversial former Disney Channel star, now best known for her outrageous behavior, has drawn the fire of fans of show on Twitter, with some even saying they plan to stop watching because of her casting.

Miley Cyrus will be a coach on The Voice because literally no one else was available,” joked one user.

“Mever thought the day would come when I decide not to watch a season of #TheVoice but Miley, @NBC ??!! #beyond #disappointed,” wrote another.

As TheWrap first reported on Friday, Cyrus, who is currently serving as an adviser on the show’s 10th season, will join Season 11 as a full-time coach alongside Blake Shelton, Adam Levine and fellow newcomer Alicia Keys.

Cyrus and Keys replace current judges Pharrell Williams and Gwen Stefani, who will “likely” return to the NBC reality show for Season 12.

The addition of the new duo marks the first time the show has ever featured two female coaches in the same season, with either Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani or Shakira previously serving as the only woman on the panel. But even that shakeup to the show’s formula wasn’t enough for some viewers to accept the choice to add Cyrus full time.

“I’m all for #TheVoice finally having 2 female coaches on one season, but did one of them really have to be Miley Cyrus?” wrote a viewer on Twitter. “Like serious WTF?”
