The 12-film series is accompanied by live interviews with the season's most celebrated actors, directors, producers and other gifted professionals, in conversation moderated by Wrap Editor-in-Chief Sharon Waxman and Awards Editor Steve Pond.
Among the filmmakers and talent participating in the series include director Steve McQueen (“12 Years a Slave”), actress Felicity Jones (“The Invisible Woman”) and director Ryan Coogler (“Fruitvale”). Other leading talent will be announced in the coming weeks.
The series will also include the documentary “Tim's Vermeer,” directed by Teller and produced by Penn Jillette, the famed magicians. And a screening of “The Croods” will gather the gifted performers and artists behind this animated comedy.
Additionally, TheWrap is pleased to announce the second year of its Foreign Screening series, which brings the year's best films from around the world to its entertainment industry audience. These screenings are also followed by interviews with the film's talent and will include films chosen for consideration for Best Foreign Film at the Oscars.
“Our screening series continues to be one of our most exciting and popular events of the year, where we bring together our passionately engaged audience, many of them voters on the season's top awards, with the leading filmmakers of the day,” said Waxman.
The films are screened for TheWrap's audience of movie industry insiders and gives priority to voting members of the industry guilds and Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
The series screens principally at the Landmark Theater in Westwood and at the Sundance Theater on Sunset.
