T.R. Knight is heading to the ’60s to square off with James Franco: the former “Grey’s Anatomy” star has joined the cast of the Hulu Original event series “11/22/63.”

The miniseries comes from the exciting combination of J.J. Abrams‘ Bad Robot Productions and author Stephen King, as well as executive producer and writer Bridget Carpenter and Warner Bros. Television.

Knight will play Johnny Clayton, a salesman in 1960s Texas who can’t quite break up with his estranged wife Sadie Dunhill (Sarah Gadon), even as she falls in love with Jake Epping (James Franco). Charismatic but controlling, Johnny confronts Jake in a tense encounter that puts Jake’s double life at risk. However, there’s equal danger in what will happen if Jake and Sadie expose Johnny’s own secrets.

Knight was on “Grey’s” from 2005-2009, and starred on “The Good Wife” two years ago.

“11/22/63” centers on Franco’s Epping, an unassuming divorced English teacher who embarks on a quest to prevent the assassination of President Kennedy, but finds his mission threatened by love, the infamous Lee Harvey Oswald, and the past itself which does not want to be changed.

The miniseries is based on King’s 2011 novel.
