‘True Detective’ Season 2 Trailer Released; Premiere Date Set (Video)

Second installment of HBO drama starring Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams to air June 21

The second season of “True Detective” will air on HBO starting Sunday, June 21, the premium cable network announced Thursday.

The first trailer for the drama series starring Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams, Taylor Kitsch and Vine Vaughn has also been released.

Season 2 of the Nic Pizzolatto drama will focus on three police officers and a career criminal navigating a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder.

Farrell plays Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him, while Kitsch is playing Paul Woodrough, a handsome, 28-year-old military veteran who has seen his own share of violence and destruction. McAdams plays police detective Ani Bezzerides.

Vaughn plays Frank Semyon, a career criminal in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner.

The first trailer, a wordless montage set over a hauntingly familiar but as yet unidentified song, sees our good guys and bad guys all seemingly grappling with demons
