Seth Meyers took “A Closer Look” at Donald Trump vs. John Lewis last night, and it opened with a pretty hilarious “Pop Goes the Weasel” rendition.
That makes no sense sans context, we realize, which is why you need to watch the video above.
But basically, the “Late Night” host backed Georgia’s Democratic congressman John Lewis in the civil rights icon’s ongoing beef with our president-elect, which came to a head over Russia’s role in election hacking.
Lewis recently said he doesn’t see Trump as a legitimate POTUS — guess how well the incoming commander-in-chief took that? If readers guessed anything between “not well at all” to “absolutely awfully,” you win.
Trump torched Lewis’ district on Twitter: “Congressman John Lewis should spend more time on fixing and helping his district, which is in horrible shape and falling apart (not to mention crime infested) rather than falsely complaining about the election results. All talk, talk, talk — no action or results. Sad!”
Ironically, the soon-to-be leader of the free world gushed over Atlanta about a decade ago, Meyers pointed out, when Trump wanted to build a high-rise there.
“I guess I’m not surprised,” the “SNL” alum said on the flip-flopping, “Trump changes positions more than a porn star with a bad back.”
