This was not “24’s” finest hour.

In fact, the two-hour series finale of the show didn’t produce ratings as good as last week’s penultimate episode, with the last show falling 7 percent to a 2.7 rating/8 share among the key adults 18-49 demo.

The finale was up 4 percent in total viewers from last week, averaging 9.3 million over a two-hour span that saw Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) sent off to an uncertain future on the international lam.

With "24" preempting Fox's powerful "House" at 8 p.m., Fox finished third for the night in the adult-demo race. Leader ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" had its lowest ratings of the cycle at a 4.0/12 in the 18-49 demographic, but those numbers were still good enough to beat out "24."
