Fox will use female pop stars such as Katy Perry and Victoria Beckham to help fill the gap left by Paula Abdul's departure from "American Idol."
That's the word from Fox Entertainment chief Peter Rice, who said producers have already confirmed several stars as guest judges during the audition rounds of "Idol." The goal is to find a permanent replacement for Abdul by the time the show returns in January.
Rice confirmed Beckham (aka "Posh" Spice) and Perry ("I Kissed A Girl") have agreed to be guest judges during the early "Idol" audition rounds. He said there "will be some excitement" about the other judges Fox is talking to.
