"Tonight Show" host Conan O'Brien is expected to make a full recovery after a minor injury during a taping of his program forced the cancellation of tonight's scheduled broadcast.

"Conan hit his head doing a stunt and the show was not finished," an NBC spokesman said. O'Brien was taken via ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment, according to a report on the website of Los Angeles station KTLA.

O'Brien was well enough to issue a comedic statement about his accident.

"Last thing I remember I was enjoying the play with Mrs. Lincoln, and the next thing I knew I was in bed being served cookies and juice," O'Brien said.

Teri Hatcher and Seth MacFarlane were the scheduled guests on tonight's show. NBC opted to air a repeat instead.

O'Brien took over "The Tonight Show" from Jay Leno in June. Just-released Nielsen data show him winning the third quarter among adults 18-49 viewers by a 49 percent margin.

UPDATE: NBC Saturday said O'Brien was "resting comfortably" at home.
