Lifetime Orders Up Two New Procedural Dramas

Lifetime announced the pickup Monday of two new procedural dramas.

"Against the Wall" stars Rachael Carpani (pictured right) as a Chicago detective who ruffles feathers when she joins internal affairs. Treat Willaims and Kathy Baker co-star in the Universal Cable Productions-produced series. Annie Brunner ("Saving Grace," "Huff") created the show.

"Exit 19" stars Ally Walker as a divorced women who juggles motherhood and a career as a homicide detective. Tisha Cambell-Martin and Miguel Ferrer co-star in the series, which is co-produced by ABC Studios and CBS Television Studios. Jeffrey Bell ("V"), Nina Wass ("Less Than Perfect") and Gene Stein ("Accidentally on Purpose") are executive producers.

Lifetime has placed 13-episode orders for both shows.

"Over the last several months, we have been working tirelessly on a new development slate of scripted shows, nonfiction series and origional movies at Lifetime," said Nancy Dubuc, president and general manager of Lifetime. "Continuing our legacy of great scripted dramas is critical to our succcess."

LIFETIME PICKS UP TWO DRAMAS,

AGAINST THE WALL AND EXIT 19

LOS ANGELES (February 7, 2011) – Lifetime Television has picked up the two character-based procedural dramas Against the Wall and Exit 19 for 2011 launches.  The announcement was made today by Lifetime Networks’ President and General Manager, Nancy Dubuc.  Both series have received 13 episode orders, expanding Lifetime’s slate of scripted programs from two to four this year. 

 

Regarding the announcement, Dubuc said, “Over the last several months, we have been working tirelessly on a new development slate of scripted dramas, nonfiction series and original movies at Lifetime.  Continuing our legacy of great scripted dramas is critical to our success.  The relationships and environments so brilliantly created in both of these dramas are unique to today’s landscape and promise to deliver the high quality auspices and great emotional storytelling you can expect from Lifetime in the future.”

 

In Against the Wall, loyalty is put to the test when Chicago police detective Abby Kowalski (Rachael Carpani, The Glades, NCIS: Los Angeles) causes a rift within her close knit, blue collar family of cops when she decides to join the department’s Internal Affairs division.  Treat Williams (127 Hours, Everwood) and Emmy® and Golden Globe® Award winner Kathy Baker (Picket Fences, Medium) star as Abby’s parents.  Rounding out the cast in the pilot are Brandon Quinn (Entourage), Marisa Ramirez (Spartacus: Gods of the Arena), Chris J. Johnson (The Vampire Diaries), James Thomas (Covert Affairs), Steve Byers (Smallville), Mayko Nguyen (Why I Wore Lipstick to My Mastectomy) and Daniel Kash (The Dresden Files).  Nancy Miller (Saving Grace, CSI: Miami) executive produced the pilot from Universal Cable Productions, with writer Annie Brunner (Saving Grace, Huff) serving as supervising producer.
