The de-canonization of Tiger Woods continues.
A man who was, just 10 days ago, one of the most respected icons in the world now finds himself a target for new humiliations almost daily.
The screaming wife with the golf club. Stripper eruptions. Embarassing voicemails.
And now, it's come to this: Woods' now-infamous "Take My Name Off Your Phone" message has been remixed... into an R&B slow-jam. (Apparently, Jimmy Fallon's not the only one who can slow-jam the news.)
It would be nice if we lived in a world where non-hypocritical celebrities who make mistakes could just work out their issues in private.
As a friend of mine noted today, unlike John Ensign (R-Nev.) or the adulterous televangelists of the '80s and '90s, the Woods situation is not a matter of hypocrisy. Woods has never put himself forward as a moral role model-- just a great athlete. He may have screwed up with his family, but he didn't betray his fans.
