“Uncle Buck” will not return for a second season on ABC next year, TheWrap has learned.

The single-camera comedy was canceled after it aired its season finale, which will now serve as the series finale, on Tuesday. Series star James Lesure first announced the news on Twitter.

“Disappointed. No more @ABCUncleBuck,” he wrote. “Cancelled. Thankful to have worked with @ABCNetwork. Proud of what we’ve done. Thx 4 let us entertain u.”

Based on the 1989 John Hughes movie starring John Candy, ABC’s “Uncle Buck” starred Lesure and Mike Epps and was written and executive produced by “MADtv” veterans Steven Cragg and Brian Bradley. The series was produced by Universal Television and ABC Studios.

Tuesday night’s finale was watched by 3.2 million viewers and earned a 1.0 in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and 3.2 million viewers, according to Nielsen.
