Univision strongly criticized the Trump administration’s policy of separating the families of undocumented migrants at the U.S. border. In a statement posted to a company blog, the media organization called on politicians from both parties to end the practice.

“Univision calls upon elected officials and leaders in Washington in both parties to work to resolve this situation immediately so that the separations stop and children already impacted can be reunited with their parents,” the statement read. “It is especially devastating to see the pain of children wailing for their parents; to see siblings separated from one another and put in caged enclosures.”

“America is a country built by immigrants. Indeed, immigrants have long come to the United States seeking better lives for themselves and their families,” it continued.

Univision becomes the latest in a long string of critics that have spoken up against the separation and zero tolerance policies currently being enforced at the border. The news has generated sustained coverage on MSNBC and CNN.

On Tuesday evening, Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen was heckled out of a Mexican restaurant in Washington, D.C. by a group of Democratic Socialist activists.

After initially resisting, President Trump signaled Wednesday that he was beginning to soften on the issue. MSNBC reported Wednesday that both Melania and Ivanka Trump had interceded with him on behalf of the migrants.

Sean Hannity also reported Wednesday that Trump would sign an executive order ending the separations.
