Emmy Quickie: ‘Vikings’ Star Travis Fimmel on Who He Really Wanted to Play (Exclusive Video)

Actor tells TheWrap what the worst part of shooting in Ireland is

Ragnar Lothbrok is the first Viking — could actor Travis Fimmel be the first from “Vikings” to be nominated for an acting Emmy?

TheWrap thinks it’s possible, so we brought the dude in to talk about his show, and his craft. Fimmel seemed happy to be in our Southern California offices — after all, our weather beats the crap out of Ireland’s, which the actor ID’d as the toughest part of filming his History drama.

While we had him, Fimmel also shared one of the crazier audition stories we’ve ever heard, about that one time he saved a casting director in distress. Dude was locked in a room, and Fimmel had to crawl the ceiling to retrieve him. It’s unclear if Travis got that part. We sure as hell hope so.

Speaking of parts, Fimmel wasn’t even initially going after the Lothbrok one.

“I actually wanted to play Floki (Gustaf Skarsgard) originally, but the good stuff was already cast,” he told us, adding, “and he did it way better than I could ever do it.”

Watch the video above, and be sure to cast your ballot before the deadline.
