Vox Hires Matthew Vree as Executive Producer for Video

“Matt is incredible at making really smart, really watchable videos at scale,” editor-in-chief Ezra Klein says

Vox.com hired Matthew Vree as executive producer for video, the site announced on Monday.

Free comes over from PBS Digital Studios, where he ran programming and launched animated series like “Blank on Blank” and a satirical news show “Everything But the News.”

At Vox, Vree will be charged with boosting the site’s video operation in New York, Washington, D.C. and on the West Coast, with a focus on creating video for Facebook and YouTube.

“Matt is incredible at making really smart, really watchable videos at scale, and his perspective and approach will be a huge addition in growing our video team,” Vox editor-in-chief Ezra Klein said in a statement.

“Matt was, from the moment we talked to him, just the right choice,” he continued. “He’s able to take important, complex topics and give people deeper insight into them.”
