‘Walking Dead’ Season 8: Enjoy 5 Minutes of Context-Free Footage in First Trailer (Video)

“I hope you have your sh—ing pants on,” Negan says

Get ready for what the first trailer for “Walking Dead” Season 8, which is about five minutes of what the show does best — revel in slow, tense moments.

The trailer was revealed during the “Walking Dead” and “Fear the Walking Dead” panel in Hall H at San Diego Comic Con, and it starts out with a slow bang, which is very appropriate for the show. It begins with Negan declaring, “I hope you have your sh—ing pants on.”

He clarifies, with a chuckle: “Because you are about to sh– your pants.”

The rest of the trailer is a stream of shots with each of the characters (the ones still left anyway) as they wander around, look into cars with dead bodies, look generally pained, and aim their guns into the distance.

The end of the trailer gets more action-packed as the gang engages in the fights that have become almost routine after seven seasons. It even offers up a few lines of hope.

“And on this day, we begin to reshape this world,” says King Ezekiel.

In the final shots, we see Rick wake up in a white bed with a long, gray beard and a cane nearby.

As the trailer rolled, the Comic-Con audience cheered the first appearance of each characters — with two exceptions. Carl got a muted response from the crowd, while Dwight’s appearance was met with awkward silence.

The trailer premiered following a moment of silence led by moderator Chris Hardwick in honor of John Bernecker, the stuntman who died July 15 after a fall on set.

Hardwick also announced that in memory of Bernecker, the producers of “The Walking Dead” had decided to moderate the show’s Friday Hall H panel themselves. Hardwick continued to moderate the “Fear the Walking Dead” panel.
