‘Walking Dead’ Ratings Top Olympics in Key Demo Once Again

AMC zombie drama outperforms Sochi games among the 18-49 crowd for third week in a row

AMC’s “The Walking Dead” has pulled off a threepeat in its ratings showdown with the 2014 Winter Olympics.

For the third week in a row, the network’s zombie drama has beat out the games in the 18-49 demographic most desired by advertisers.

Sunday night’s episode of “The Walking Dead” at 9 p.m. had 8.4 million viewers in the demo for a 6.6 rating, topping the 3.2 that NBC’s coverage of the Olympics received during the same hour.

In total viewers, the Olympics beat out “The Walking Dead”, averaging 16 million for the 9 to 10 p.m. hour compared to the 13.1 million that the zombie show received.

The “Walking Dead” aftershow “Walking Dead” at 10 p.m. drew 3.1 million viewers in the 18-49 demo for a 2.4 rating, with 4.7 million total viewers.
