‘War for the Planet of the Apes’: You’ll Go Ape S— Over This Motion-Capture Morph Scene (Video)

Don’t tell Andy Serkis he’s not a “real actor”

Andy Serkis is not a “motion-capture actor.” He’s a frigging actor, damn it.

Don’t believe us? Watch the behind-the-scenes morph video above, which comes from production on Twentieth Century Fox’s “War for the Planet of the Apes.”

In the scene, Serkis literally turns into Caesar, the leader of the monkeys. (Not to be confused with Davy Jones, the leader of The Monkees.)

Serkis’ voice and facial performance during the key “Apes” monologue is as award-worthy as any type of acting we’ve seen this year. Give his guy a trophy, and the chimpanzees their freedom.

“War for the Planet of the Apes” is out in theaters now.
