The Washington Post has launched a community called Pay Up, where women in the tech sector can discuss the gender pay gap issue.

According to NiemanLab, “One part career support group, one part networking tool, [Pay Up] has quickly become home to discussions about the male-female wage gap, salary negotiation tactics, and news about job openings.”

The Slack-based Pay Up isn’t open; prospective community members must fill out a form with professional details to enter the group that is shaped primarily by users.

“Women are already having these conversations among themselves all the time, so we thought we could foster those conversations and do something bigger with them,” Post social media editor Alex Laughlin told NiemanLab.

The group is currently limited to women in the tech sector but the Post has plans to expand eventually, according to the site.

Gender pay disparity has been a hot topic for quite some time, but it has picked up a lot of steam lately because of the presidential election.

Hillary Clinton has made it a priority, while the New York Times and Wall Street Journal have both been in the news this year because of the subject.

Michelle Rodriguez recently compared the Hollywood gender pay gap to slavery.
