Watch Chewbacca Rip Off an Arm in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Deleted Scene (Video)

The gruesome scene recalls a line spoken by Han Solo from “A New Hope”

Always let the Wookie win.

In a newly-found deleted scene from “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” Unkar Plutt (Simon Pegg) confronts Rey (Daisy Ridley) for not selling him the droid BB-8, until her new furry BFF Chewbacca steps in and rips Plutt’s arm off in self-defense. It’s kind of awesome.

The scene is no less gruesome than Luke getting his hand sliced off in “The Empire Strikes Back,” but hearing Plutt’s screams of agonizing pain just off camera, perhaps it’s not hard too imagine why Disney and director J.J. Abrams axed the scene for the final film.

This rough cut looks fully polished in CGI up until Plutt’s clearly physical arm comes flying off.

In fact, it’s another example of the film’s fan service, in that Han Solo originally mentioned to Luke that Wookies are known to rip arms right out of sockets. And, of course, it’s another detail that calls to mind the mayhem in the Mos Eisley Cantina in the original.

The video currently has over 2.3 million views on YouTube, and it’s the perfect teaser for “Episode VIII,” which is directed by Rian Johnson and arrives Dec. 15, 2017.
