Will Smith Performs ‘Summertime’ for Jimmy Kimmel (Video)

The “Focus” star did a throwback to his days as the Fresh Prince

The Fresh Prince was in the house on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Wednesday night.

Will Smith appeared on the late-night talk show to promote Friday release, “Focus,” and performed one of his classic rap songs from the early 1990’s. DJ Jazzy Jeff, Smith’s former collaborator, even made a special appearance via satellite.

“Summertime” was an early success for Smith. It reached #4 on the “Billboard” Hot 100 chart and won a Grammy for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group.

Smith has been busy infusing his nostalgic hits into the promotional tour for “Focus,” in which he stars as a veteran con man who is taken aback when his former protege (Margot Robbie) suddenly appears while he is working on a big score. Smith rapped “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It” on CBS’ “The Late Show with David Letterman” and performed “It Takes Two” on NBC’s “Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon.”

“Focus” is an important movie for Smith, as it marks his first leading role since the disastrous 2013 opening of “After Earth,” which was his only starring vehicle to date not to open at number one at the box office.
