Wyatt Cenac, Ana Gasteyer Join TBS Comedy Pilot ‘The Group’

Conan O’Brien, Greg Daniels, Jeff Ross are executive producing alien abduction sitcom

TBS has set “Daily Show” alum Wyatt Cenac, “SNL” alum Ana Gasteyer and “The Office’s” Oscar Nunez to star in comedy pilot “The Group,” the network announced Thursday.

“The Group” follows a support group for people who think they have been abducted by aliens, which is the subject of a snarky feature piece by skeptical journalist Wyatt Jones (Cenac). The more he digs into the oddballs’ claims, however, the more confused, intrigued and seduced he becomes.

Cenac, Gasteyer and Nunez are joined in the cast by Alice Wetterlund (“The Interview,” “Silicon Valley”), Luka Jones (“Her,” “The Campaign”), Tracee Chimo (“Orange is the New Black,” “The Five-Year Engagement”), Da’Vine Joy Randolph (“Selfie,” “The Angriest Man in Brooklyn”) and Marylouise Burke (“Sideways,” “Alpha House”).

“The Group” is produced by Conaco in association with Warner Horizon Television. Conan O’Brien, Jeff Ross, David Kissinger, Dan Halsted and director Greg Daniels serve as executive producers on the pilot, which was written by co-executive producer David Jenkins.

Cenac is represented by David Martin of Avalon Management and UTA, Wetterlund by 3Arts and Chimo by Lasher Group and Innovative Artists. Jones is with 3Arts and UTA, Randolph with Lighthouse and Paradigm, Nunez with Omnipop, Burke with BRS/Gage and Gasteyer with Gersh.
