Disney has promoted talent and casting executive Ayo Davis to executive vice president, adding Disney+ to her portfolio.

In the newly created position, Davis will also provide casting strategy and services to Disney’s direct-to-consumer division, working closely with the Disney+ team on across all scripted and unscripted content.

Davis will report to ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke.

“Ayo has an unbeatable track record of discovering new talent and attracting the industry’s most skilled and accomplished artists,” Burke said in a statement. “We are excited to have her continue to lead our casting team and its initiatives, with added responsibilities at Disney+ as the Company launches this vital new area of business.”

Davis has been in ABC’s casting department for more than 16 years, having overseen pilots including “Lost,” “Desperate Housewives” and “Grey’s Anatomy.” She was named head of talent and casting for the network and studio in 2016 and has been instrumental in casting some of ABC’s most recognized shows, including “The Good Doctor,” “black-ish” and “How to Get Away with Murder,” for which Viola Davis became the first African American actress to win an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.
