‘The View’s’ Rosie O’Donnell Calls Rick Scott an ‘Asshole’ For Refusing to Debate Charlie Crist

“He was being a baby,” the co-host says of the Florida governor, who inspired “Fangate”

ABC’s censors put their fingers to work on Thursday morning, bleeping “View” co-host Rosie O’Donnell as she called Republican Florida Governor Rick Scott, “an asshole.” During a debate on Wednesday night, Scott initially refused to face his opponent, Charlie Crist, onstage because Crist had a small fan under his podium.

“He should have just walked out,” O’Donnell said of Scott. “Why didn’t he walk out? He was being a baby. He looked like an asshole.”

Nicolle Wallace, who spent most of her career before “The View” in politics, explained how Crist had written into his contract the right to have the fan during the debate. Why Scott was against Crist having the fan has yet to be determined.

“The person who should lose their job is the one who made their boss look bad,” Wallace said. “Governor Scott should have been out there when Governor Crist was.”

“He’s a politician with his head in his butt,” Whoopi Goldberg said of Scott.

Scott stalled the debate, held at Broward College, for seven minutes before coming out and shaking the hand of his Democratic challenger.

“Are we really going to debate a fan?” Crist said as he waited for Scott to appear.

Wallace, herself a Republican, called Scott’s move a mistake.

“He had a great opportunity to be funny. Instead, we’re talking about Fangate,” she said.

The hashtag #fangate has become a trending topic on social media since the debate.
