Adam Levine Rips VMAs: ‘Utterly Horrible’

Maroon 5 frontman isn’t happy with MTV cutting off Julia Michaels’ performance

Maroon 5 probably won’t be performing at the VMAs anytime soon.

Singer Adam Levine trashed the MTV awards show last night on Twitter, calling the whole thing “utterly horrible.” To punctuate his point, the frontman and “Voice” mentor made a hashtag out of “Holy f—.”

Here’s that damning tweet:

Levine’s beef stemmed from the production cutting off Best New Artist Julia Michaels mid-song and throwing to commercial. The “Moves Like Jagger” singer also didn’t think much of Lorde’s, um, performance.

Here’s that summation, in Levine’s own words:

Watch the video above to see how Michaels’ full performance of “Issues” actually went for those in attendance, and without MTV’s apparent technical issues getting in the way. TheWrap reached out to the Viacom cable channel for comment on exactly what happened with the TV feed, though we did not immediately hear back.

As for Lorde, well, she’s got an excuse for last night’s bizarre display. The singer said she was suffering from the flu yesterday, though that didn’t stop her from dancing terribly to “Dynamite.”

Watch that here, and note her own tweet below.
