Who needs Secret Santa when you’ve got dynamite?
Not Otto Kilcher on Discovery’s rugged reality show, “Alaska: The Final Frontier.”

The series follows the Kilcher family, led by patriarchs Atz and his brother Otto, who have cultivated and lived on their homestead for four generations with no plumbing or modern heating battling Alaska’s brutal winters. In a surprising twist, the family is actually related to the singer Jewel, also from Homer, Alaska.
In this festive episode from Season 4 of the fan favorite, Otto decides to give daughter-in-law Eve a pond (yep, an actual pond) for Christmas. Which is really no big deal if you have some spare explosives in the shed … which apparently the Kilchers do.
“Eve has always wanted a pond,” Otto says in TheWrap‘s exclusive preview from Sunday night’s upcoming episode airing on Discovery. “She loves ice-skating, skinny-dipping and having a place for her animals to drink.”

In the clip, Otto (Jewel’s uncle) gets to work with some cables and a few powerful sticks of grade-A dynamite — and boom, after a quick countdown, he’s able to give his daughter-in-law a brand new pond. It just happens to be right next to big ol’ body of water. But it’s the thought that counts.
“Now we just have to wait for this creek to fill it up for Christmas,” explains Otto.
