‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ Scores IMAX Release

Superhero sequel will be released in 3D

Spider-Man will swing across the widest of screens next summer.

“The Amazing Spider-Man 2” will be digitally remastered and released in IMAX 3D, Sony Pictures and IMAX said Monday. The superhero sequel is getting released internationally beginning April 16, 2014, and domestically on May 2, 2014.

The film finds Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield) beset by villains such as Electro (Jamie Foxx) and the Rhino (Paul Giamatti) and grappling with a new threat in the form of his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan). The wall-crawler soon discovers that his enemies have a common bond — OsCorp, the experimental research company Osborn’s family owns.

Marc Webb once again directs and Emma Stone returns as Gwen Stacy.

“The Amazing Spider-Man” was also released in IMAX. It earned $752.2 million globally.
