The anonymous senior Trump administration official who wrote the “I Am Part of the Resistance” op-ed for the New York Times last year and the new best-seller “A Warning” said vowed Monday to reveal their identity — at some point.

“As far as anonymity is concerned, I will not keep my identity shrouded in secrecy forever,” the official wrote on a Reddit “Ask Me Anything” thread set up by the publisher of “A Warning.”

“I am not afraid to use my own name to express concern about the current occupant of the Oval Office,” the author wrote. “Donald Trump has not heard the last of me. There is more to come. Other people who are currently serving, and who have left, are also considering adding their voices before votes are cast in 2020. We talk about this with some regularity.”

When asked by a user why he or she continues to remain anonymous, the official replied, “Not everyone will agree with my rationale, but anonymity has a long tradition in American politics, as far back as the birth of our Republic.”

The unknown official also commented on those who have publicly — and not all anonymously — testified in the president’s impeachment hearings or otherwise spoken up, “Yes, as an American, I am proud of all the individuals who have come forward to tell the truth about corrupt behavior in the White House, whether they have chosen to protect their identities as whistleblowers or to testify before Congress.”

Little is known about the identity of the op-ed writer, including their gender and whether he or she still serves in the Trump administration. But the writer did perhaps provide one clue answering a question about who would win next month’s Army-Navy football game. Anonymous’ pick: Navy.

At the outset of the AMA, where users can ask a host anything they want, moderators did not, “[W]e can’t verify by our usual standards that the OP here is really Anonymous, but the publishers of his book assure us it’s the same guy and we have no reason not to believe them.”
