Former “American Idol” contestant Antonella Barba faces a minimum of 10 years in prison after agreeing to plead guilty to drug possession with intent to distribute in federal court in Virginia.

According to the Asbury Park Press, Barba was arrested last October after police began investigating a man they believed to be the source of drugs in the area. She was found at an apartment connected to the dealer with nearly two pounds of fentanyl in her possession and charged with possession and intent.

She faces a minimum of 10 years in prison up to a life sentence and $10 million in fines.

The Virginian-Pilot reported following her arrest that Barba was carrying enough fentanyl to kill 415,000 people, based on Drug Enforcement Administration statistics.

Barba appeared on the sixth season of “Idol” in 2007 during the show’s Fox run. She reached the top 16 before being eliminated. She also appeared on an episode of “Fear Factor.”
