“Avengers: Age of Ultron” won’t feature the gang assembling for another post-credits shawarma scene, but at least audiences will get to see the Marvel superheroes get tipsy, eat Chinese food and play with Thor’s hammer before the credits even come close to rolling.
A new clip released this week expands on a scene previewed in an extended trailer for the highly anticipated sequel, in which A.I. creation Ultron (James Spader) breaks free from Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and wreaks havoc on the world.
Audiences familiar with the trailer know that Ultron shows up to crash the party after Stark, Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and even Col. James Rhodes (Don Cheadle) take a turn at trying to lift Thor’s legendary hammer. But before the villain does, it looks like the Avengers are having a lot of fun hanging out together.
In fact, audiences probably won’t want the party to end, because the one-minute-23-second clip is a lot of fun to watch, and proves the Avengers could totally have their own sitcom.
“Age of Ultron,” which Joss Whedon returned to direct before Joe and Anthony Russo take over the franchise, hits theaters on May 1.
