Comedy Central has given a second-season pickup to the comedy “Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens” ahead of the show’s series premiere, the network announced Tuesday.

Led by newly minted Golden Globe-winner Awkwafina, the comedy is set to premiere on Jan. 22. Inspired by the “Crazy Rich Asians” and “The Farewell” star’s real life years growing up in Queens, “Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens” centers on Nora Lin as she leans on her family and navigates young adulthood in outer borough New York City.

BD Wong, Lori Tan Chinn and Bowen Yang also star. Season 1’s long list of guest stars includes Celia Au, Michelle Buteau, Laverne Cox, Natasha Lyonne, Harry Shum Jr., Ming-Na Wen and Jaboukie Young-White.

“We are in awe of Awkwafina’s creative genius on every level and we could not be more excited to embark on a season two with the entire Lin family in Awkwafina is Nora From Queens,” said Sarah Babineau and Jonas Larsen, Comedy Central’s co-heads of original content.

The comedy is executive produced by Awkwafina, Karey Dornetto, Lucia Aniello, Teresa Hsiao, Peter Principato and Itay Reiss of Artists First. Sarah Babineau and Rachel Olson are the executives in charge of production for Comedy Central.
