Donald Trump might want to be careful which secrets he tells Ben Carson.

Carson, the former Republican presidential aspirant who is now running the presumptive GOP White House candidate’s vice presidential search, inadvertently confirmed that former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is on the Trump campaign’s wishlist for the VP role as a reporter sat nearby.

On his way to a TV interview, Carson listened as he was told the names of the best-liked potential VP candidates according to a new poll. The poll included Carson himself as well as Palin, John Kasich, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz and Chris Christie.

“Those are all people on our list,” Carson said, according to a Washington Post story published online Sunday.

Carson’s wife then bluntly reminded him that he was not on the list.

“That the Trump campaign might want their potential VP picks held close to the vest didn’t seem to occur to Carson,” the Post article observed. “He’s not the type to keep his candid thoughts to himself.”

Since joining Trump’s team, Carson has made a number of gaffes. He told one interviewer that even if Trump was a bad president, his presidency would last only four years. He has said Trump suffers from “major defects” and that he was only being “pragmatic” in supporting him.

Palin was the VP candidate on Sen. John McCain’s unsuccessful GOP ticket in 2008. She later resigned as governor and pursued a career in television and public speaking.
