BermanBraun Overhaul: New Name, New Divisions

BermanBraun will now be Whalerock Industries

BermanBraun will now be known as Whalerock Industries under a larger reorganization in the wake of the departure of co-founder Gail Berman.  The company has also consolidated its film and scripted television divisions into one department, run by film chief Andrew Mittman. Scripted TV head Gene Stein will leave the company.

The name change was necessitated by Berman sudden exit a few weeks ago, which left the company in Braun’s hands.

“This reorganization reflects our approach to development throughout the company,” Braun said in a statement. “The traditional lines between media are increasingly blurred – particularly in film and television.  Our executives will work the same way – evaluating material, developing relationships and understanding business models across the media landscape.”

Mittman has run the production company’s film division since 2009, overseeing the development projects such as “Men Are From mars Women Are From Venus.”

Andrew Mittman is an extraordinary executive,” Berman said in a statement. “He has the maturity, work ethic, taste and relationships to build a stellar film and television division.”

Mittman will work closely with Jenna Glazier, who has been promoted to SVP of TV and film. Whalerock has a first-look deal with MGM.
