“Real Time” host Bill Maher said Friday that he believes Donald Trump is “capable” of ordering people murdered.
“Do you believe Vladimir Putin has ordered the murder of people?” he asked his guests on the online-only “Overtime” segment of his HBO show “Real Time.”
“Absolutely,” responded conservative activist Ralph Reed.
“Do you think Trump is capable of that?” Maher asked.
“No,” said Reed.
“No, I don’t think so,” said Republican pollster Kristen Soltis Anderson.
Another guest started to answer, and Maher blurted out: “‘Cause I do. I think he loves dictators, loves the way they behave, compliments them all the time,” before rattling off the names of several totalitarian leaders, including Rodrigo Duterte, president of the Philippines, and North Korea’s Kim Jong-un.
His comments come around the 14:20 mark of the video above.
Maher made the surprising statement, sure to be the source of outrage from President Trump’s supporters, weeks after he apologized for using the N-word during an interview with Nebraska Republican Sen. Ben Sasse.
It also comes after some liberals accused Republicans of wanting to murder people during the fight of whether to repeal Obamacare.
HBO had no comment on the latest outburst, which comes at the start of an already tense weekend for the network. Hackers have threatened to unleash stolen content on Sunday, and, separately, someone has already leaked Sunday’s episode of “Game of Thrones” early.
