The Broadcast Television Journalists Association, an offshoot of the Broadcast Film Critics Association, will add six categories for its the second annual Critics’ Choice Television Awards, it announced Tuesday. The awards will be held at a new location, the Beverly Hilton, on June 18.
The BFCA, known for the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards, established the BTJA and the Critics’ Choice Television Awards last year. New categories this year will include Best Movie or Mini-series, Best Actor in a Movie or Mini-Series, Best Actress in a Movie or Mini-Series, Best Guest Performer in a Drama Series, Best Guest Performer in a Comedy Series and Best Animated Series.
"BTJA was launched to enhance access for broadcast journalists covering the television industry as well as honor the best work of the previous season while highlighting the potential standouts for the upcoming season," said Joey Berlin, acting president of BTJA. "We were gratified by the industry support for our organization and our inaugural Critics’ Choice Television Awards last year and pleased with how well our members’ choices reflected the vote of the Television Academy."
The Critics' Choice Television Awards will honor programs and performances that aired between June 1, 2011 and May 31, 2012 in the following categories:
