Bounce TV Announces Debut Date; Network Seeks African-American Audience

Network available to customers without cable; offers 24/7 mix of movies, sports, documentaries and original programming

Bounce TV, a new broadcast network skewed toward African-American viwers, will debut on Sept. 26, the network announced Tuesday.

The network, founded by Martin Luther King III and others, will debut at noon with a with a 24/7 mix of movies, sports, documentaries and original programming.

It will be available to viewers who don’t have cable and feel underserved by the major broadcasters. Like Centric and TV One, it will target viewers 25 and older.

"September 26 will be an important milestone as we launch the first-ever independently owned and operated broadcast television network featuring African Americans," King said in a statement.

The network also announced that it will be seen on Belo Corp.’s KHOU-TV in Houston, the country's eighth-largest African-American market.

It will also air in Cleveland and Akron, Ohio; Charlotte, N.C.; Cincinnati, Ohio; Indianapolis; Hartford and New Haven, Conn.; Norfolk, Va.; Dayton, Ohio; West Palm Beach, Fla.; Birmingham, Ala.; Memphis; Louisville, Ky.; and Richmond, Va.
