Cannes Still Loves Tarantino

Heavyweight auteurs will vie for Palme d’Or in U.S.-light festival.

Quentin Tarantino, Ang Lee, Pedro Almodovar, Jane Campion, Lars Von Trier and Terry Gilliam have been tapped by organizers Gilles Jacob and Thierry Fremaux to bring premieres to this year’s Cannes film festival.

Tarantino will unspool his World War II actioner "Inglourious Basterds," starring Brad Pitt, and Lee will bring his comedy "Talking Woodstock," starring Liev Schreiber, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Emile Hirsch.

Other Competition films include Almodovar’s "Broken Embraces," Campion’s "Bright Star," von Trier’s "Antichrist," Michael Haneke’s "The White Ribbon "and Ken Loach’s "Looking for Eric." Gilliam’s "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassuss" will screen out of competition.

The festival, which begins May 13-24, will screen 52 feature films from 32 countries; 46 films are world premieres. Twenty films will screen In Competition.
