‘Captain Marvel’ Super Bowl Trailer Blasts Off Into Space (Video)

Marvel dropped ads for both “Avengers: Endgame” and “Captain Marvel” during the Super Bowl

Super Bowl Sunday was a big day for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as Disney dropped 30-second spots for both of Marvel’s next two movies, “Captain Marvel” and “Avengers: Endgame” (click here for that one), within a half-hour of each other.

The “Captain Marvel” trailer was largely a remix of previously revealed footage — not a huge surprise given that we’ve already gotten three trailers and several TV ads for Marvel’s first female-led superhero movie.

Like an ad we looked at the other day, this spot spends some time highlighting the relationship between Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) and Maria Rambeau (Lashana Lynch) — whose daughter will likely be a very important character in the MCU down the line.

Among the smattering of new shots in the commercial was one particularly dramatic shot of Jude Law’s still-officially-unnamed Kree character with the rest of his Star Force crew — but not, conspicuously, Carol Danvers.

There’s really not much to take away from this one. It’s just another sick ad for “Captain Marvel” that makes the movie look awesome. And it concludes, as most of the marketing for this film does, with Captain Marvel blasting off into space and wreaking havoc.

“Captain Marvel” lands in theaters on March 8.
