In an industry obsessed with looks, singer Carrie Underwood is reportedly being unusually blunt about how hers may change.

CNN reports that in a blog post on her website, Underwood disclosed that she had suffered a “gruesome” facial injury in November requiring 40 to 50 stitches just days after last year’s CMA awards. A rep for Underwood did not respond to requests for comment from TheWrap, but CNN said it had viewed the post.

Underwood’s message reportedly said that in addition to breaking her wrist during the November mishap, she also hurt her face — and was “not quite looking the same.”

“It’s crazy how a freak random accident can change your life. In addition to breaking my wrist, I somehow managed to injure my face as well,” the message read.

CNN quoted her as saying she would avoid the “gruesome details,” but that her doctor had applied “between 40-50 stitches.”

“When I am ready to get in front of a camera, I want you all to understand why I might look a bit different,” the message continued. “I’m hoping that, by then, the differences are minimal, but, again, I just don’t know how it’s all going to end up.”

ETOnline, however, suggested that Underwood might not look so different.

The site reported that Underwood ran into celebrity chef Adrienne Gang ran into Underwood at a resort outside of Knoxville, Tennessee, in December, and that Gang posted a photo of the two on Dec. 12 in which Underwood’s face appeared uninjured.
