CBS Orders Military Drama Pilot ‘Four Stars’ From ‘Smash’ Writer

Documentarian R.J. Cutler will direct pilot written by Becky Mode

CBS has handed out a pilot order to military drama “Four Stars” from writer Becky Mode.

The pilot revolves around two powerful rival families in the military community of Tampa, Florida make decisions at the highest levels in the interest of national security.

Documentarian R.J. Cutler will executive produce and direct the hourlong drama from CBS Television Studios. Mode, whose previous credits include “Smash” and “The Playboy Club,” wrote the pilot and will executive produce.

Sarah Timberman & Carl Beverly will also serve as executive producers for Timberman/Beverly Productions.

Among the network’s other drama pilots are “Bull,” about a young Dr. Phil; “Doubt,” also from Timberman/Beverly; “Bunker Hill” from Jason Katims; and adaptations of “MacGyver,” “Training Day” and the “Nancy Drew” series of novels.
