CBS Says ‘Yes’ to More ‘Flashpoint’

Network orders 13 episodes of the Canadian-born drama series.

Memo to the folks at "Three Rivers": CBS may already have your replacement in mind.

The network today confirmed that it’s picked up another 13 episode cycle of "Flashpoint," the procedural crime drama starring Hugh Dillon and Enrico Colantoni as crisis response officers. It will air sometime this season.

The news comes hours after the disappointing debut of Sunday newcomer "Three Rivers," which fell about 25 percent from CBS’s performance in the 9 p.m. timeslot last fall.

CBS actually has two other drama series on its bench which could be used as replacements for "Rivers": A Jerry Bruckheimer medical drama (nee "Miami Trauma") and an hour called "The Bridge."

"Flashpoint" has never broken out for CBS, but it has been a stable performer for CBS when it’s aired on Friday nights.

The series is a co-production between Canadian production companies Pink Sky and Avamar Entertainment, CBS TV Studios and CTV.
